We are thrilled to announce In Formation, the first exhibition featuring work from four artist-in-residence projects that bring art into the heart of scientific stem cell and epigenetics research.

As part of the RepliFate project, funded through the MSCA of the European Union, three artists worked alongside our scientists in their laboratories, exploring the microscopic and the unseen, translating cellular life, laboratory rituals, and experimental practices into drawing, video, textiles, and other creative forms. The resulting artworks invite audiences to imagine the processes, care, and attention that shape contemporary biology, from stem cells and epigenetics to the flickering uncertainties of cellular life.

The exhibition also features work from ‘The Mutability of Memories and Fates’ artist-in-residence project, which invites the public to imagine cells as subjects of memory and to conceive their life as a succession of memories and identities through a deep artistic research process in the lab. This work was realized at the Institute of Epigenetics and Stem Cells at Helmholtz Munich.

In Formation opens on 5 July 2026 at Muffatwerk, Munich, at 17h00.

In Formation will be on view until 8 July 2026.
